Warren Miller film 'Flow State' arrives at Lake Tahoe

There's nothing like a great ski and board film to get primed for the winter season. At South Shore Lake Tahoe there's two coming events worth noting: Warren Miller’s 63rd annual film, “Flow State” will be shown at at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa Nov. 29-30 as part of a 240-city tour.
This annual Miller-produced homage to all things skiing and boarding takes viewers to the top of the world’s most striking peaks in Norway, Austria, California, Switzerland and beyond.
The film is also being shown at North Tahoe ahead of the South Tahoe show, Nov. 23-24 at Cal Neva Resort, and Dec. 7, 7 p.m. in Carson City at the Carson City Community Center. The Lake Tahoe showing prepares film enthusiasts for the grand-daddy of all winter sports film showings, the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival, set for Dec. 8 at MontBleu.

Designed to capture the intensity and passion of adventure, the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival is a perfect summary of outdoor culture. The show begins the minute the doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dramatic action photography from Aurora Photos flashes on the big screen while go-go dancers and a deejay pump up the crowd.
Next, the films commence with the main event at 7:30 p.m. showcasing segments from the best action sports films of the year. Films cover the full spectrum of adventure including skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, surfing, skating, mountain biking, BASE jumping and other heart pounding sports. Many of the segments are special edits including previews of films that have not been released.
The Miller film, though, is the perfect primer for the Lake Tahoe Adventure Film Festival. Throwing down some of the most captivating footage ever shot by Warren Miller Entertainment, "Flow State" is hosted by Jonny Moseley and features athletes including Daron Rahlves, Colby West, Chris Davenport, Jess McMillan and David Wise.

In the film, Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety takes on Alaska’s mighty Chugach, Julian Carr bombs down Utah’s famed Wasatch, Jackie Paaso explores the Norwegian Arctic and Chris Anthony makes Warren Miller history on 70-year-old, 10th Mountain Division ski equipment. Roll-call winter’s finest athletes, because they are all here – embodying the essence of the Flow State and tackling the mountain with absolute attention and deep confidence.

The powder in Japan will send you scrambling to tune-up your gear, the gravity in Telluride will have you scheduling an avalanche refresher course, and the steeps in Alaska will drive you to push a little harder during your next preseason workout. Winter is right around the corner, and it is time to enter the Flow State, "where the mountain meets the mind."
