Reno woman identified in Mount Rose Highway fatal crash

A 50-year-old Reno woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident Friday on State Route 431, Mount Rose Highway, east of Joy Lake Road in Washoe County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

Tracy L. Scott died after the 2001 GMC Yukon XL she was driving was struck by a Dodge pickup towing a two-axle utility trailer driven by a 36-year-old Reno man. Scott was traveling westbound on the two-lane highway at the time of the crash.

Woman dies, two injured in Mount Rose Highway accident

A woman died Friday and two were injured in a vehicle accident east of Joy Lake Road on State Route 431, Mount Rose Highway, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. and closed the highway for more than an hour. The woman's name has not been released pending notification of family members.

With the December holiday season upon us and the upcoming New Year just around the corner, numerous holiday parties and other work and family-related get-togethers will be celebrated and they often involve the consumption of alcohol. In an effort to identify those impaired drivers who may get behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol, additional NHP Troopers, as well as a multi-agency DUI checkpoint, are being scheduled this month.

One hospitalized in Highway 50 accident near the Cave Rock tunnels

A Carson CIty woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a vehicle accident Thursday morning near the Cave Rock tunnel.

The accident was reported at 7:32 a.m. The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a silver Subaru was traveling westbound on US 50 driven by Patricia Schille, 48, of Carson City, reports Trooper Daniel Lopez.

Motorcycle crash with injuries reported on Spooner Summit

The Nevada Highway Patrol, Tahoe Douglas fire and Carson City EMT personnel responded Saturday to a motorcycle crash with injuries on Spooner Summit. The accident happened in the eastbound lane and was reported at 5:22 p.m. Motorists can expect delays. NHP also responded to vehicle accident with injuries near the valley side of Kingsbury Grade at the intersection of Foothill and Mottsville. This accident was reported at 5:20 p.m.

Pedestrian doing OK after Sunday hit and run accident in Stateline

A 25-year-old man suffered a broken right femur and head trauma after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning at a crosswalk on Highway 50 in Stateline. Authorities are looking for the driver of the SUV that hit him and left the scene, which happened across from MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa.
The injured California man was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where his injuries are considered non-life threatening, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

NHP reports numerous crashes, arrests during Street Vibration events

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports investigating 65 crashes associated with the 2012 Street Vibration motorcycle rally which had riders attending events between Reno, Carson City, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe.
There were no fatalities associated with the annual motorcycle rally, according to NHP. Reno police however, were investigating a Sunday morning fatal crash on Plumb Lane. It is unknown if that was related to the motorcycle rally.

Highway 395 re-opened after fire burns more than 2,000 acres south of Gardnerville

UPDATE 8:45AM: Highway 395 has reopened with controls (pilot vehicle) so expect delays and watch for fire vehicles, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.

A South Lake Tahoe woman died in a motorcycle crash on Monday near Glenbrook on Highway 50, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports. Jennifer Lyrea Leonard, 50, died after being thrown from the motorcycle she was riding on.

Fatal motorcycle accidents at Highway 50 and Mount Rose Highway near Lake Tahoe ties up homebound holiday traffic

UPDATE: 5:18PM: A female passenger on a motorcycle died this Labor Day and the driver was seriously injured on Highway 50 near Glenbrook, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. In a separate accident on Mount Rose Highway a motorcyclist has also died.
The Highway 50 accident, reported at 3:13 Monday afternoon near Logan Creek on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe, shut down traffic in the eastbound lane. Traffic, as of 5 p.m. continued to be diverted to the westbound lane, said NHP Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

A bicyclist escaped serious injuries after being hit by an SUV, which then left the scene of the accident Saturday on Mt. Rose Highway in North Lake Tahoe, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accident happened near Golfers Pass Road. According to witnesses, an SUV, possibly silver or blue, with California plates was traveling westbound on on Mt. Rose Highway. The vehicle veered right, crossing the fog line, and stuck a cyclist.

Nevada Highway Patrol to set up Incline Village sobriety checkpoint over July 4 holiday

The Nevada Highway Patrol, along with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office are planning a sobriety check point for the Fourth of July holiday.
The check point will be held in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe and is being funded by a Joining Forces grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

An Incline Village couple have been identified in the fatal pedestrian accident on Friday night at a crosswalk on State Route 28 in Incline Village. The Nevada Highway Patrol reports Robert C. Mathis and Linda Mathis, both 46 and husband and wife, died from injuries sustained in the accident. Family members have been notified.

Douglas County man dies in motorcycle crash on Spooner

A 25-year-old Minden man died Saturday in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 50 east of the Douglas County line on Spooner, seven miles west of Highway 395 in Carson City, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

According to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen, Edwin Bruno-Mazariego was riding his green 2008 Kawasaki ZX600P motorcycle east bound on the four-lane highway. For reasons still unknown, he failed to negotiate a left hand curve and departed the travel lane striking the adjacent section of guardrail.

Nevada Highway Patrol busy over Labor Day weekend

The Labor Day holiday weekend produced a high volume of traffic on northern Nevada highways resulting in a large number of calls for service. During the three-day weekend, nineteen people were arrested in the Reno-Sparks area with fifteen of those arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Troopers assigned to the Carson City area logged 3 DUI arrests. The DUI arrest activity for Lovelock, Fernley, Fallon and Hawthorne was not available this morning.
