NHP reports numerous crashes, arrests during Street Vibration events

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports investigating 65 crashes associated with the 2012 Street Vibration motorcycle rally which had riders attending events between Reno, Carson City, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe.
There were no fatalities associated with the annual motorcycle rally, according to NHP. Reno police however, were investigating a Sunday morning fatal crash on Plumb Lane. It is unknown if that was related to the motorcycle rally.
Additional NHP troopers were placed on duty throughout the entire event in an effort to create a highly visible presence on along Northern Nevada highways and to handle the anticipated larger volume of calls for service.

Street Vibrations began on Wednesday Sept. 19, and ran through Sunday, Sept. 23, with a total of 65 crashes investigated. Of the 65 crashes, NHP reports 25 resulted in some type of reported injuries and the remaining 40 were reported as property damage only.
The number of reported motorcycle related crashes numbers are down from last year’s 84 crashes with 49 property and 35 injury. However, this year there were 54 motorists arrested during this period with 27 motorists arrested for DUI and the other 26 related to warrants, misdemeanor or felony arrest, NHP reports. These numbers were up from last year’s 23 arrests which were 16 for DUI and 7 related to warrants, misdemeanor or felony arrests.
