The two-time slopestyle snowboarding Olympic champion considered dropping out of the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle Ski and Freeski World Championships but realized she could use the event for a greater good and get out a message near and dear to her heart.

She, along with Reno's David Wise, won gold in the first halfpipe for skiers held in the Olympic, and now they're both the first U.S. halfpipe skiers to qualify for February's Olympics in PyeongChang.
Even though Maddie finished in fourth place Friday, she clinched and punched her ticket to South Korea during the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in Snowmass because she had two podium finishes during the previous three qualifying events.

As the top American woman on the podium, Anderson qualified for her second Olympic Winter Games and earned the chance to defend her title in PyeongChang in February. She will also be able to add a medal in another event as all slopestyle riders will also compete in big air as it makes its Olympic debut.

In the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Maddie Bowman and Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe each won gold, Bowman in women’s halfpipe skiing and Anderson in women’s slopestyle snowboarding.

Three Olympic athletes from the inaugural USA slopestyle snowboarding team will arrive in South Lake Tahoe this spring to compete in Heavenly Mountain Resort’s signature event, High Roller Hold ‘Em, on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Olympic Gold Medalist Sage Kotsenburg will place his bets against fellow Olympians Billy Morgan and Chas Guldemond, as well as High Roller Hold ‘Em veterans Gjermund Braaten and Eric Willett.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced the nomination of 13 halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarding athletes Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix. Slopestyle snowboarding will be contested in the Olympic Winter Games for the first time ever in Sochi. The five event qualifying series came down to the final stop at Mammoth Mountain, with all but two spots decided during the final event weekend.

Anderson is looking forward to representing her country in Sochi, "It’s not just the local Tahoe community; it’s the entire U.S. and even my friends throughout that world that are supporting me. It’s really special to come together for the Olympics because of how much love you get from your country and representing your nation. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before."

Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/16/2014 - 4:41pmJamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe clinched the first spot on the U.S. Olympic slopestyle snowboarding team with her victory Thursday at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain. Ryan Stassel (Anchorage) took the victory for the men, while favorite Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) fell hard during his first run and couldn’t put together a complete second run. It was the third Olympic qualifier of five, and the fourth qualifier commenced Thursday at 4:30 p.m..
Anderson's winning run was a 50-50, back lip, tail 270 out, frontside 360 shifty, backside 540 and cab 720.
