South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman is headed to her second straight Olympics!
She, along with Reno's David Wise, won gold in the first halfpipe for skiers held in the Olympic, and now they're both the first U.S. halfpipe skiers to qualify for February's Olympics in PyeongChang.
Even though Maddie finished in fourth place Friday, she clinched and punched her ticket to South Korea during the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in Snowmass because she had two podium finishes during the previous three qualifying events.
Wise won for the second time in the first four Olympic qualifiers, this time he was part of an American sweep in the Snowmass event.
Local Jamie Anderson will also be in PyeongChang after previously qualifying in slopestyle snowboarding. Jamie won the gold medal in the inaugural Women's Slopestyle Event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Olympic halfpipe snowboarder Hannah Teter, who calls the South Shore home, is still waiting to see if she is heading to her fourth straight Olympics.
The 2018 Olympics run February 9 – February 25.
