SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It started as a dream of Chad Donnelly's after growing up in Colorado and attending Denver Broncos football games in the cold and snow. He thought to himself, if people will attend a football game and sit in the snow, why not a concert?

That observation turned into an internationally recognized event in South Lake Tahoe where electronic music fans have headed to for three days, December 29-31, since 2011. In that first year, 28,995 tickets were over the three days and it grossed $1.5 million.

Letters: Noise from SnowGlobe is too much

The following is a "Letter to the Editor" received by South Tahoe Now:

This isn’t easy to talk about. The backlash has been very hurtful and without compassion. I’m not against SnowGlobe, but the idea of having several festivals a year as things are now, is just not something I can endure.

Letters: No Globe Alliance wants change or elimination of SnowGlobe event

We are a diverse group of local South Lake Tahoe residents who are organizing to eliminate or relocate SnowGlobe. This event has unfairly displaced local residents, invaded our homes with noise, closed access to whole neighborhoods, exposed our forests to unnecessary and dangerous potential for fire and attracted visitors who do not reflect the family friendly Lake Tahoe we want to be. We want to bring the experiences of our local community into the light.

Mayor Wendy David: Community Conversations

First, a confession of weirdness. I love being a part of groups. I like the synergy of groups, how they work collaboratively, how the room sounds… some listening, others talking.

I like the process of group decision-making, the back and forth, the quiet and noisy, the 'aha' moments of clarity, that groups have goals and purpose. It may be quirky, but instead of being drained from being with and working in a group, I find it energizing.

As the tents are taken down, the stage removed and all other components of SnowGlobe disappear for another year, an evaluation of the Community Play Field and other aspects of the seventh annual event in South Lake Tahoe are being made. There may be negatives to the popular event that draws in 20,000 people a day, there are also many positives to be celebrated.

There is more to the three-day festival, SnowGlobe, than music and crowds, a side of the event many aren't aware of.

Letters: It's been 7 years. Can you turn it down?

To the City, Snowglobe, and Community – As many of you know I am vocal critic of Snowglobe. Well after another year I feel like it’s kind of tradition for me to write my letter and vent about the event.

I will preface this letter with a reminder that I am not against events in the area. I just want events to be at a proper venue and I want them to not shake the walls of my house.
