Nevada Taxable Sales Sees Modest But Solid Gain In April
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 5:33pmCARSON CITY — Nevada’s taxable sales climbed by 5.1 percent in April over April 2011, continuing a 22 consecutive month trend of positive numbers for the important economic indicator, the state Department of Taxation reported this week.
The $3.5 billion in taxable purchases in April were buoyed by double-digit gains in several major categories, including construction; up 16.1 percent, merchant wholesalers-durable goods, up 10.2 percent; and motor vehicle and parts dealers, up 10.5 percent.

Submitted by Editor on Wed, 06/20/2012 - 6:45pmNeeded improvements at the Thunderbird Lodge got a lift on Wednesday when the Nevada Commission on Tourism announced the Lake Tahoe site was among several to win an improvement project grant.
Grants were awarded to 19 different projects. The announcement was made by Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki.
NCOT's Projects Relating to Tourism Grants program help fund infrastructure improvements that will attract visitors, and after a temporary suspension due to a decline in tourism revenues, the grants were reinstated this year.
Lake Tahoe launches public participation campaign for new vision

Called TahoeFuture.org, the campaign will focus, over the next 8 months, on two critical land-use and transportation plans that create a blueprint for a revitalized Lake Tahoe.

Study: Nevada 10th Most Dangerous State For Driving

To beat the record, now held by the city of Davis of 916 bicycles, South Lake Tahoe will have to produce 917 bicycles or more. The firm, which positions itself as a global rating agency dedicated to providing value beyond the rating through independent and prospective credit opinions, research and data, gave the water and sewer district a AA+ rating, noting $10.8 million sewer revenue certificates of participation. The ratings agency also asserts that STPUD continues to have strong reserves in place that protects the district against a reduction in its property tax revenues.
