The owners of the historic Pink House in Genoa, Nev. are closing the doors on October 15 after seven years in business. They made the announcement on social media Monday, surprising their many fans.

"Many factors have led to this decision, much has changed for us personally and professionally, and that has only accelerated since 2020," the owners stated. "Ultimately, with the conclusion of the summer season and our participation in the recent Genoa Candy Dance, now is the right time for us to call it a day."

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake House Tahoe, the popular dining establishment in South Lake Tahoe that was once home to Passaretti's, was acquired by the Lake Tahoe AleWorX family of restaurants in February of 2022. Once the transfer from Jeff and Misty Sparrow was finalized with Luca Genasci, the new team quickly got to work on constructing the approved plans for an outdoor patio expansion.

That patio is now completed and open.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is a new locally-owned driving school in South Lake Tahoe. John Gomez, a 24-year resident of the South Shore, has opened the Tahoe Driving Academy. He is offering various driving courses including the California DMV-mandated "Behind-the-Wheel" requirement for new driver’s licenses.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Bistro at the Corner is officially open and will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening on Friday, June 17 at 4 p.m. The public is invited to a special evening to celebrate the newest restaurant from the Lake Tahoe AleWorX team.

The ribbon-cutting will start off the good vibes party with a complimentary welcome cocktail, and 10 percent off discounts for reservations that evening, with the official grand opening ceremony at 5 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It's been years in the making, but the goal line is just weeks away for the new Hampton Inn & Suites in South Lake Tahoe. Finishing touches are being placed on the lodging property's 120 rooms and suites, indoor swimming pool, restaurant, lobby bar with six on-tap beers and wine, and landscaping.

It's not your typical Hampton Inn with custom features throughout, including chandeliers, solar panels, and energy efficiency. The ski lockers will have boot and glove warmers, and the property has a fire pit, hot tub, outside heaters, and bike storage.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It is awards season in the country, and a new one was just given to the Grocery Outlet in South Lake Tahoe. The local store was selected as the winner of the 2022 Best of South Lake Tahoe award in their category.

STATELINE, Nev. - There is a new restaurant at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Sapori Italian Kitchen. It moved into the now-closed buffet location on the top floor of the resort and offers the same panoramic views of the Sierra and the South Shore.

Sapori, which means "flavors" in Italian, features dishes cultivated by Chef Ivano Centemeri, executive chef and longtime chef of La Strada at Eldorado Resort Casino in Reno. At Sapori, guests will experience authentic Italian dishes from the pages of the Carano family recipe book with modern additions.

MEYERS, Calif. - All the snow that fell at Lake Tahoe this week helped one local business open up before the holidays - Tube Tahoe. They will open on Saturday, December 18, and operate from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Tube Tahoe has winter operations at Tahoe Paradise Golf at 3201 US 50 in Meyers and offers people a way to enjoy the snow in a safe environment. At over 500 feet in length, their machine groomed tubing lanes are some of the longest in the area. The price of admission covers a tube rental and 1.5 hours of hill use.

Featuring "beach bites" and "State Fair" food, those stopping by will see a menu featuring their Chicken in a Barrel chicken, ribs, and pork sandwiches, cotton candy, mini donuts, nachos, all-beef hot dogs, hot links, grilled cheese sandwiches, candy, Snowie's (Shaved Ice) and more.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - When Ginger Threads Collections founders, Shayna Dorris and Bridget Collins envisioned opening a sustainable fashion boutique, the pandemic was nowhere in sight. They created a logo, built a website and started finding brands to partner with.

As the inventory started coming in, the Covid-19 cases around the world started to climb. The boutique officially launched as planned on March 18, 2020 as the United States went under a stay-at-home order. It certainly wasn’t ideal, but it was too late to turn back!
