The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Utility work with one-way traffic control is scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Studies show that approximately 15 percent of adolescents have thought about suicide within the past year. Rates in adults tend to be lower, at about 5 percent. Luckily, not every thought leads to suicidal actions, but that leaves the difficult question of when to be very worried versus just concerned.

Grocery shoppers could bring their own bags, the preferred method, but many just ended up buying the thicker, stronger plastic bags or paper bags.

They held a town hall meeting this week on Measure N, drawing about 150 people to the venue, and another 100 watching remotely.
"We're here to inform you tonight as to what is exactly in this," said South Lake Tahoe Chamber CEO Duane Wallace of Measure N.

Forest Service reaches decision on basin-wide trails analysis
Submitted by paula on Fri, 09/27/2024 - 4:10pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has released the final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Decision Notice (DN) for the Basin Wide Trails Analysis Project, which examined e-bike use and trail system access and connectivity on National Forest lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Depending on the Administrative Review process, the final decision could be released as early as January 2025.

Douglas High School student arrested after allegedly making threats to carry out school shooting
Submitted by paula on Thu, 09/26/2024 - 9:26pmDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - At approximately 9:50 a.m. on September 26, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) received an anonymous report of a 14-year-old Douglas High School (DHS) student who made verbal threats in class about coming to school and carrying out a shooting.
The DCSO deputies assigned to DHS, along with school administration, contacted the student. As a result of the investigation, the student was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Facility for making terroristic threats.

It was the first time that the B&B volunteer cooks had ever prepared an Asian Crab Casserole that was served with sticky fried rice, and Asian salad. According to Jared Peabody, a Kirkwood Environmental Compliance team member, the “crab casserole was a win!”

Tahoe dive team takes expertise to Minnesota lake

The primary goal of this project, which was funded by the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment, was to gain insight about submerged litter, including its movement in and around the lake. The project also involved documenting aquatic invasive species (AIS).

Taylor Creek Invasive Species Project in South Lake Tahoe nearing completion

They have been working together since 2021 to remove a 17-acre infestation of aquatic invasive plants in the marsh in the Southwest portion of the Tahoe Basin.

“Sky” was born on Nov. 18, 1954 to G. Warren Wheeler III and Grace Evelyn Conley in Flushing, New York. Sky graduated from Central Valley High School in Valley Stream, NY in 1972. He completed his undergraduate studies at Manhattanville in Harrison, NY, and went on to earn his JD from Miami Law School.

Councilmember Scott Robbins said he didn't see why they needed to make a move now with the election so close. By law, the council had to appoint someone before the election to ensure there is a quorum at each meeting and that city business could move forward without delay.

The date coincides with National Coffee With A Cop Day, a day celebrated on the first Wednesday of October. The day's purpose is to encourage positive interactions and communication between law enforcement and the public.

The South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center coordinates the visit and has been booking free appointments for 2024 since January.
This year, that visit is on Saturday, September 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bijou Community School Cafeteria but all appointments have already been booked.

There will be a dry/mild pattern this week with light winds through Tuesday with increased southwest winds likely Wednesday with isolated areas of fire weather concerns across northeast California and northwest Nevada. Temperatures will remain around 3-7 degrees above season averages this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

On Monday, September 16, Temple Bat Yam was the Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsor for the dinner event held by Bread & Broth at St. Theresa Church’s Grace Hall. Bread & Broth (B&B) is a ministry of St. Theresa’s church, and its volunteers of all faiths prepare and serve a hot, full-course meal and provide bags of nutritious food to take home for meals later in the week.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Utility work with one-way traffic control is scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Bread & Broth resumed its B&B 4 Kids (BBRK) School Year Weekend Food Bag program earlier this month and there is room for more kids to start benefitting from a bag of food each week. The bags contain three dinners, two breakfasts, two lunches, fresh fruit, and protein-enriched snacks to fill the weekend when free school meals aren't available.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif - The City of South Lake Tahoe, in collaboration with a local planning team, is creating an area plan that fosters a more defined sense of place in central South Lake Tahoe. This includes re-evaluating and updating things such as pedestrian and bike routes, density and dimensional standards, design standards, and where and what recreational amenities may be developed in the future.
The public is invited to an opportunity to learn more about the plan and share your ideas about improvements for the Mid-Town area.
