New ceramic art studio opens in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Compass Clay Studio, a learning ceramic studio and art gallery, is open for business in South Lake Tahoe. Owners and instructors, Colleen Sidey and Bryan Yerian are ceramic artists with over 40 years combined experience, Lake Tahoe Community College art faculty members, and local elementary school art enrichment teachers. Colleen and Bryan have lived in South Lake Tahoe for over ten years and created Compass Clay Studio as a way to provide the local community with access to the clay experience.

The studio is located at 976 Edgewood Circle.

Compass Clay Studio has a cozy, welcoming studio atmosphere tucked in a quiet wooded setting just off of Highway 50. Housed in a diamond shaped building with its four points pointing to the four directions, Compass Clay Studio hopes to provide a creative space where students feel inspired and empowered on their journey to find their clay direction. The studio and instructors are casual, fun and kid/family friendly. Colleen and Bryan foster an atmosphere of individuality, support and growth through sharing and positivity. Compass Clay Studio is excited to offer experiences in the ceramic process from hand building to wheel throwing to glazing and to share with participants clay’s ability to challenge, relax, and build friendships. Classes and workshops for adults and children embrace participants at all levels from beginning to advanced and offer an opportunity to get your hands dirty and inspire your unique creative side.

Compass Clay Studio offers a variety of products and services ranging from fine art sculptures and colorful functional ceramic wares to small classes and workshops for adults and children, punchcard memberships, drop-in days, kiln firing services and private lessons perfect for individuals, small groups, team building, special events and birthday parties. The 1640 square foot facility offers 6 Shimpo potter's wheels, 3 electric kilns, slab roller, extruder, low-fire and high fire glazes, and a small gallery space.

Compass Clay Studio has announced openings in their Kids Summer Camps, Adult Classes, One-Day Workshops and Open Studio punchcard memberships.
