SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Organizers of SnowGlobe, the annual music festival held in South Lake Tahoe, have canceled their 10th annual event due to safety concerns.

"2020 has been a year of unprecedented challenges and we wanted more than anything to be a bright spot in this otherwise bleak year - but after close consultation with local and state health officials regarding the impact of COVID-19, we've made the difficult decision to cancel this year's festival," said SnowGlobe on their Twitter announcement Wednesday.

In the spirit of reciprocity, a portion of the proceeds from sales of Yvonne McGrath’s work and vinyl from the Make Tahoe Records pop-up exhibit will be donated to the Tahoe Art League as part of the “Saturday Show of Support” series.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The popular farm-to-fork festival, Sample the Sierra, is moving to a digital format this year due to the current pandemic.

The 11st annual event will still include a variety of food-related entertainment typically found at Sample the Sierra, including cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, musical performances, giveaways, and shopping. Instead of only having these things during the day of the traditional in-person event, this year's will be spread out throughout August and September (a more detailed schedule is coming later).

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - A husband and wife artist team from North Lake Tahoe has been selected to paint the tunnel mural on the popular new Tahoe East Shore Trail. Over 34 people responded to the public call for submissions by the Tahoe Fund and a team of local nonprofits, private section and government agencies collaborated to select the winner.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Emerging young Van Goghs and Picassos were on display this week at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe (BGCLT). Parents, family, and friends toured the displays Thursday afternoon.

The club's Art Director Gina Stowell has been working with the students in several mediums including pastels and charcoal, watercolor tempura, monochromatic, printmaking, acrylics, mixed media collages, and multi-colored drawings. All were hung around the room for the art show as was a special blacklight "Glow Gallery."

The artists on display were ages 6-15.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Since its opening in June 2019, the new Tahoe East Shore Trail connecting Incline Village to Sand Harbor State Park has quickly become an attraction for both residents and visitors interested in exploring Tahoe’s famed East Shore on foot or by bicycle. STATELINE, Nev. - An early Christmas present for country music fans. Harrah's and Harvey's Lake Tahoe have announced the first act confirmed for the 2020 Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series.

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney will bring his Amphitheater CHILLAXIFICATION tour to Tahoe on July 2 & 3, 2020. Chesney’s amphitheater shows feature popular, multi-talented musician and Oakland, California native Michael Franti & Spearhead as support on the stage.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, December 2 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe.

The free art reception is open to the public and will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials, including this quarter's artist, Regine Bandel. Bandel will be presenting her watercolor landscapes and will also be speaking at the event.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – What was once a dull gray shipping container has been transformed into a work of art at the watercraft inspection station in Meyers, California. The container houses equipment used to decontaminate boats arriving at the station that might harbor aquatic invasive species.

Now greeting boaters will be a colorful and creative mural painted by local artists and students. At the same time the mural puts the Clean, Drain, and Dry message front and center.
