Douglas authorities report 10 arrests in casino area

New Year's Eve at Lake Tahoe went off without many problems, Douglas County authorities report, with crowds down to around 30,000 within the Stateline casino areas. There were 10 arrests during the celebration and a DUI arrest outside the casino area, said DCSO Sgt. Jim Halsey.
Among the charges were disorderly conduct, trespassing, minor consuming alcohol, battery, domestic battery, battery on a peace officer and civil protective custody.
Highway 50 was closed to vehicles at about 10:30 p.m. to allow holiday revelers to flow into the stree. The highway was reopened at around 12:30 a.m. after the crowd peacefully moved off the street and back into the casinos or other locales, Halsey reports.
