Highway 50 closed from Round Hill to Cave Rock due to multiple accidents

11:39 a.m. update - Traffic is moving with escorts through accident areas so emergency personnel can finish clean up of accidents.

10:30 a.m. update: The highway closure is now from Zephyr Cove to Elks Point and it will continue to be closed for an undetermined time.

Highway 50 from Round Hill to Cave Rock has been shut down due to multiple accidents caused by icy roads.
According to Eric Guevin, Fire Marshal of Tahoe Douglas Fire, Nevada Highway Patrol shut the road down at 8:45 a.m. Friday after there were several collisions near the Presbyterian Conference Grounds.
Guevin said NDOT is on the way to put down sand.
There are serious injuries to some of those involved. NHP is also at the scene of accidents near Cave Rock and Round Hill.
There is no estimated time of reopening.
With Kingsbury Grade closed, this stretch of road has been heavily used by commuters.
