South Lake Tahoe man arrested as suspect in Tracy bank robbery

South Lake Tahoe Police Department detectives arrested a local man on February 1 on a warrant out of Tracy, Calif.

Brandon Dominguez, 23, is suspected of robbing the BBVA Compass Bank on North Tracy Blvd. at 12:38 p.m. on December 23, 2016. At the time of the robbery, a note was passed to the bank teller, demanding money. That teller tried to add a tracker to the money but the robber threw it back at them according to the Tracy Police report. Described as 5'10", with blue eyes and wearing a dark blue sweater, yellow beanie and a black and white scarf wrapped around his face, the bank robber fled and police dogs were unable to track him.

The Tracy Police Department's investigation led to Dominquez and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Sgt. Steve Beukelman of the Tracy Police Department told South Tahoe Now that the robbery is still under investigation and he couldn't reveal how Dominguez was identified as the suspect, nor could he reveal how much money was stolen from the bank.

The arrest occurred in the 3700 block of Ruby Way in South Lake Tahoe, and Dominguez was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for robbery. His bail has been set at $250,000. Beukelman said they will be soon be transporting him to Tracy.
