Tahoe Regional Young Professionals Announce New Scholarship Opportunity

Tahoe Regional Young Professionals is teaming up with Startup Weekend Tahoe to send two of its members to the 54-hour business startup event in Truckee, March 7 – 9, 2014. TRYP’s Startup Weekend scholarships include business pitch coaching by local strategist, Megan Arneson, in preparation for the event’s open mic idea pitching. Applications are available at www.TahoeTRYP.org and must be submitted via email to TahoeTRYP@gmail.com by Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

TRYP’s scholarships to Startup Weekend Tahoe are the latest addition to the organization’s professional development program, as part of its mission to Empower Tahoe. TRYP has also awarded its members with opportunities to get involved in local enrichment programs such as Leadership Lake Tahoe.

“Lake Tahoe is home to professionals with bright minds and big ideas,” said Lydnsay Bryant, executive director of Tahoe Regional Young Professionals. “We want to offer scholarships like this not only as a benefit of joining TRYP, but also as a way to empower Tahoe and retain local talent to help grow our economy.”

Startup Weekend Tahoe is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch companies. Attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team during Friday’s open mic pitches. Teams focus on customer development, validating their concepts, and building a viable product throughout the weekend. Groups demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts at the conclusion of the conference. For more information, visit Tahoe.StartupWeekend.org.
