Crews working nonstop on Highway 50 after three mudslides closed the road have been able to get all cleaned up and the road opened in both directions at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday.
The main route between South Lake Tahoe and Sacramento closed on Friday, February 10. Heavy rains also caused closure on I80, and heavy snow closed SR88, leaving all roads into Lake Tahoe from California closed.
At this time, all local roads are open. Earlier tonight, NDOT reopened Highway 50 on the east shore after an unstable hillside prompted closure when huge boulders fell onto the road. Traffic in that area is reduced to one lane in each direction.
