LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The body of a 46-year-old Carnelian Bay woman was found Thursday morning after Placer County Search & Rescue teams had been looking for her since a Monday afternoon car accident.

Kathryn "Lani" Jones was found on a popular hiking and snowshoe trail about one-half mile from her home.

Jones had crashed her vehicle on SR28 near Garwood's early Monday afternoon and Good Samaritans stopped and assisted her out of the vehicle. While awaiting for emergency personnel to arrive, Jones walked away from the scene and had not been seen or heard from since that time. The crash occurred about one mile from where she was eventually found.

According to Sgt. Hunt of the Placer County Sheriff's Office, Jones was not dressed for being outdoors for a prolonged period of time. At the time of the accident where was wearing yoga pants, a jacket and beanie.

At this time there is no known cause of death but it does not appear to be suspicious according to Sgt. Hunt. It appears she was trying to walk home.
