Tibetan Monks returning to South Lake Tahoe

Event Date:
April 1, 2016 (All day)

Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery are returning to South Lake Tahoe from April 1 to April 6 with a full schedule of ancient and colorful participatory activities, Dharma talks, meditations, and cultural rituals to promote inner healing.

Events, unless otherwise noted, will be at the Blue Angel Cafe, located at 1132 Ski Run Blvd.

All events are donation based and all proceeds will go towards funding the construction of the Phukhang College House at Gaden Shartse, which houses over 600 exiled monks in the Tibetan Refugee Zone in India.

The monks are on a two-year “Sacred Earth and Healing Arts of Tibet Tour for World Peace.” They are coming to share their unique and deeply spiritual culture of Tibetan Buddhism, including a cultural day where families can enjoy hands-on workshops creating butter sculptures and stringing prayer beads. There will also be cultural presentations, talks on Tibetan Buddhism, meditations, and the always popular series of rituals and ceremonies. As a special treat, Blue Angle Café will also be supporting their visit with a traditional Tibetan lunch special on Saturday.
