South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue is inviting the public to the christening of their new boat, the Ms. Lisa, on Monday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Keys Marina Boat Ramp.
Financed by a generous donation by local philanthropist Lisa Maloff, the new water safety rescue boat bears her name.
For lake purposes, the boat is "Marine 17" and joins another new fire rescue boat on the lake that Lisa Maloff helped put afloat. Tahoe Douglas Fire held a reception in November on their new firefighting boat, Marine 24, that Maloff helped get onto the water.
Personnel have been spending hours on the lake aboard the Ms. Lisa, training for all sorts of scenarios including inclement weather.
