COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Health officials are reporting two new cases of COVID-19 in the county and both from the Diamond Springs/El Dorado area. One male and one female, both 18-49 years old.

To date, 3,724 tests for the virus have been administered, an addition of 320 since yesterday. There were no new recoveries and currently there are 11 active cases.

To date, 62 COVID-19 cases in the county with 20 in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma).

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting two additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County:

A male in his 50s with underlying health conditions
A male in his 70s with underlying health conditions

There are 45 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County.

In addition, there were 22 additional COVID-19 cases and 13 additional recoveries.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 13, 2020:

65 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+8% since May 12)
45 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-1%)
19 percent of all ventilators are in use (+5%)

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting six new positive cases and one recovery of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 134, with 87 recoveries and two deaths, 45 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18
• A male Storey County resident in his 40’s

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

There have been two new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Wednesday.

Negative test results - 6,745 (+242)

Alpine County

There have only been updates to the county's testing figures. The two positive case numbers have not risen in a few weeks. The figures below are the last ones reported on April 27 and there have been no changes.
