Valhalla Renaissance Faire returns to South Lake Tahoe

Event Date:
June 10, 2017 (All day)

After an absence in 2016 due to construction on the campgrounds at Camp Richardson, the 25th anniversary of the Valhalla Renaissance Faire returns to the South Shore for one weekend, June 10-11, 2017.

A weekend of Olde England style merriment and celebration will take place through seven acres of woods in the historic Camp Richardson, taking people back to Elizabethan times, complete with the "Queen" herself.

This year's festival takes on a renaissance, fantasy and pirate theme from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on Sunday. T

"Given the venue’s extensive updates and changes we have decided to limit the 2017 event to one weekend only, with an expected return to the full Valhalla Renaissance Faire two-weekend schedule in 2018," said organizers on their Facebook page.

There is entertainment on four stages, feasting, arts & crafts merchants and over 1,000 actors providing hard hitting, lance splitting jousting, live sword fighting, children's games, educational demonstrations, jugglers, magicians and minstrels. Come in costume, or come as you are and immerse yourself in games, theater and splendid Renaissance village and marketplace.

There is parking across the street from the faire, but it is first come, first serve and it usually fills up REALLY quickly. Parking at this lot is $5.

They will be running two revolving buses from the casinos at Stateline, to the Y and then to the site. "It is suggested people park at the Y because the trip will be quicker. You may also park at Kmart, or better yet, TJ Maxx (the Y itself). They will be picking people up from that location," according to even organizers.

The cost for the Valhalla Renaissance Faire is $15 for adults, $12 for military, seniors and ages 13-17, $8 for children 6-12 and free for those under 6.
