Burning Man idea turns into Lake Tahoe business

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Have you ever wanted to experience Lake Tahoe from the comforts of a camper, enjoying the outdoors and campfires, while fishing for dinner outside your door that you'll cook on an open stove? Then cuddling up in bed with nothing but the sounds of nature outside to lull you to sleep?
Don't have the gear to make this happen?
James "Jay" Cooley and Alecia Baker do, and they are in business to help create those kinds of memories with Tahoe RV Rentals.
Nine years ago they were living in a camper at Squaw Valley while working in the village. A friend of theirs suggested they rent it out for Burning Man, the popular Labor Day festival in the Black Rock Desert.
That positive experience has led to a fleet of 35 recreational vehicles from 16' to 29' that can be deposited and hooked up at Lake Tahoe campgrounds, all ready to use. Not only do they deliver the RV, but also any extras their guests want including solar panels, bicycles and even Keurig coffee makers (and they'll even leave the light on).
The campers can even be dropped off in driveways when extra beds are needed as company arrives.
Tahoe RV Rentals is the only company allowed to legally deliver to Nevada Beach, Fallen Leaf Lake, DL Bliss, Sugar Pine, Donner Lake. They also work with others including Camp Richardson and campgrounds around the lake.
Cooley and Baker will deliver the camper with linens and basic supplies, the renters bring the food and cooking supplies. When done, renters just check out and the couple comes back to pick up the camper.
They said their fleet will always be fresh, clean and from the current or last model year.
While not creating camping memories for visitors to Lake Tahoe, Cooley and Baker enjoy adventures of their own from Jeeping in Utah, camping in Wyoming and riding motorcycles to Mexico, to discovering Thailand and Belize. Alecia also works part-time at the Juvenile Treatment Center in South Lake Tahoe.
