Lake Tahoe Community College is seeking submissions for the 25th annual edition of The Kokanee. Submissions of up to five poems or 10 pages (2,500 words) of prose (fiction or creative nonfiction/memoir) are being accepted until June 21 at kokanee@ltcc.edu.
Submissions should be attached as a Microsoft Word document, and “Kokanee Submission” should be in the subject
line. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be considered.
To be eligible, contributors must have taken a class at Lake Tahoe Community College or work at the college as staff or faculty. Submissions are also solicited from writers who have participated in the LTCC Writers’ Series.
Authors previously published in The Kokanee include H.L. Hix, Sholeh Wolpé, Patricia Smith, Denise Duhamel, Brian Turner, and Todd James Pierce.
Student work will also be eligible for cash prizes. This year, Alec Holmes won the 2013 Kokanee Award for his essay “Daunted by Bathrooms,” and Ryan Row’s short story “Johnny Copper Crime Stopper” was awarded an Honorable Mention.
