Sunny forecast for South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Spring is still struggling to get a hold on Lake Tahoe. The widespread storm threat that has been present all week in Lake Tahoe starts to decrease Monday and Tuesday as the low-pressure system which has produced scattered showers and thunderstorms will slowly drift eastward. A warming trend is expected through Wednesday, then a quick cold front will bring windy and cooler conditions later this week, with the strongest winds likely on Thursday.

The forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 42. West wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. East wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 77.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 42.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 69. Breezy.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 61.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 64.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 35.
