Tahoe Douglas Rotary awards $14,000 in scholarships

Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club recently awarded $14,000 in scholarships to students at Whittell and South Tahoe High Schools.

The winners are:

The Whittell High School students granted a scholarship this year for academic achievements were Subrina Trachsel, Mikayla Warner, and Bryce Bronken. The vocational scholarship went to Stephanie Martin.

At South Tahoe High School. Michael Herring and Corey McCarthy were each awarded vocational scholarship of $2,000 each.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary continues to maintain a strong commitment to the youth in our community with several programs that assist local youth such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), a summer youth program; Interact, a high school service club which just started at South Tahoe High and will start at Whittell this fall, speech, music and culinary arts competitions in addition to providing mentors to high school students to assist them with future vocational career planning.

The Rotary club is able to fund these scholarships and other community service programs with the community’s continued support of their annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. The club meets every Friday at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa located at 55 Highway 50, Stateline, NV at 12:15 pm. Guests are invited.
