Whittell High School graduation procession along Highway 50 Friday

ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. - The Class of 2020 at George Whittell High School will hold its graduation on Friday, June 19. Since only immediate family members can attend the socially distancing graduation ceremony there will be a parade starting at Kahle Park on Kingsbury Grade at 10:00 a.m. The procession of cars will go along Highway 50 and end up at the Warrior Way high school in Zephyr Cove. Those wanting to cheer the graduates on may do so from along the four-mile route.

The community is invited to show support for the graduates along the recession route Friday with decorated cars, horn honking and cheers for the student.
The school will take a group photo of the graduates in the Lisa Maloff Athletic Stadium.

The graduates have been celebrated over the last few weeks with staff decorating their cars for a surprise caravan to each senior's home or place of work. They gave each student a special yard sign and Warrior Swag bag donated by the school's Booster Club. The students had no idea the caravan would be going to visit with their favorite staff member on board. Even though closed, the Lakeside Inn displayed their support for the graduates on their marquee and all 23 Class of 2020 signs were shown.

Whittell would like to give a shout out to the following businesses for their help in honoring the Whittell Class of 2020: Tahoe Douglas Rotary, the Parent’s Boosters Club, Carson Valley Signs, Guild Mortgage, Two Stone Slab and Tile, Remax, R&S Offset, All State and Optima Advertising, Red Hut, Lakeside Inn & Casino, and Lake Tahoe TV.
