Thieves Break Into South Lake Tahoe's Boys & Girls Club

Two years of hard work and fundraising by the teens at the Boys & Girls Club Lake Tahoe went out the window this weekend when an unknown thief (or thieves) broke into the club and stole the fruits of their labor, a brand new XBox system with games and controllers.
Between 8 p.m. on Saturday night and noon on Sunday a rock was thrown into a window at the club, located in the former Al Tahoe Elementary at 1100 Lyons Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. According to BGCLT Program Coordinator Kelly Garrity, the rock was thrown so hard it ended up on the other side of the room with glass covering the whole floor.
For two years the teens have been fundraising to remodel the teen room at the club. They have held car washes, spaghetti feeds and bake sales to raise money. Les Schwab Tires of South Lake Tahoe donated money from their car show last summer as well. There was some money left over after the remodel was completed so the teens bought the new XBox set up with a few games.
There are no leads at this time but if anyone has information about the break in and/or stolen items, please contact the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 530-542-6100.
