Record heat in South Lake Tahoe

Both South Lake Tahoe and Reno saw records break with their high temperatures on Saturday, July 8. SLT's 89°F broke the 28-year-old record high of 87°F, and Reno's 104°F broke their previous high of 99°F.

Will there be more record high temperatures this week in South Lake Tahoe?

Not according to the National Weather Service forecast with highs in the mid-80s and records around 90°F.

The week starts off with a lake wind advisory on Lake Tahoe on Monday, July 10 from 11:00 a.m to 11:00 p.m. Winds will be from the southwest 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Waves will be increasing to 2 feet by the afternoon, especially from mid-lake to the northern and eastern shores. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 51. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 83.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Wednesday - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Sunny, with a
high near 82.

Wednesday Night - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 49.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 83.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 49.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 86.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 50.
