Derek Lowe wins $12,500 for Tahoe Prosperity Center

Fifteen celebrities competing in the 30th annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this week headed over to the 17th hole after the first round of play Friday to participate in the Korbel Closest-to-the-Pin Challenge.

If any of them got a hole-in-one, the Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) would split the $250,000 prize money with the celebrity. While nobody got that elusive ace, there were a lot of close shots. Missing the cup by just 21.5", former MLB pitcher Derek Lowe won $25,000 to split with TPC.

TPC Executive Director Heidi Hill-Drum was at the hole, waiting to see the outcome and she was quite excited to receive a check for $12,500.

Besides Lowe, the celebrities taking part in the challenge were Larry the Cable Guy, Miles Teller, Rob Riggle, Robbie Gould, Bode Miller, Kevin Millar, Alfonso Ribeiro, Mark Mulder, Bret Baier, Kira Kazantsev, Kathryn Tappen, Dylan Dreyer. Korbel also sent a representative to the tee.

Josh Allen was the second closest at 10'5" away. He did win the Korbel Celebrity Spray-Off, getting $5,000 for his favorite charity.
