LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Former American professional tennis player Mardy Fish is on top of the leader board at the Amerian Century Championship after the second day of play.

Former Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams, yesterday's leader, came off the course in second place.

Mardy Fish set a tournament second-round record with 37 points in the Modified Stableford scoring system, breaking the old record by four points. He had ten birdies finishing the day with five straight. He also set a course record 63, breaking Lee Trevino’s 65.

Former Pro Bowl lineman Kyle Williams leads at the American Century Championship

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - It's an unfamiliar face on top of the leaderboard after the first round of the 31st annual American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe.

Kyle Williams, former Pro Bowl defensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills, came into the clubhouse with a 25 in the modified Stableford scoring system used at the tournament.

Back-to-back American Century Championship wins for Tony Romo in Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. - Tony Romo is the champ once again in the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, becoming the fourth player to successfully defend their title at the celebrity tournament.

The former Dallas Cowboy quarterback and current CBS analyst ended the tournament with a 71 in the modified Stableford scoring system. Romo topped three-time winner Mark Mulder by ten points and third place finisher Mardy Fish by 14.

Romo entered the final round with a nine-point lead and says he felt really good about his game, especially as he started the back nine.

Derek Lowe wins $12,500 for Tahoe Prosperity Center

Fifteen celebrities competing in the 30th annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this week headed over to the 17th hole after the first round of play Friday to participate in the Korbel Closest-to-the-Pin Challenge.

If any of them got a hole-in-one, the Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) would split the $250,000 prize money with the celebrity. While nobody got that elusive ace, there were a lot of close shots. Missing the cup by just 21.5", former MLB pitcher Derek Lowe won $25,000 to split with TPC.

After missing last year, pop music superstar Justin Timberlake has just been added to the field of celebrities heading to Lake Tahoe July 9-14 for the 30th annual American Century Championship.

His addition has amped up the celebrity wattage at the annual golf tournament that will also see Steph Curry, Tony Romo, Charles Barkley and Aaron Rodgers among the 90 sports and entertainment personalities. STATELINE, Nev. - It was a come from behind victory for Tony Romo Sunday, something he was familiar with during his career with the Dallas Cowboys. He was four points back during the final round, jumping ahead of the defending champ, three-time winner Mark Mulder and the leader from the first two rounds, Joe Pavelski.

Mulder and his wife Lindsey once again brought their three kids to Lake Tahoe, all who ran out to the 18th green after Mark finished the day with a three-day total of 73 with the modified Stableford scoring.

On Sunday, former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder became the first back-to-back winner at the American Century Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe since Rick Rhoden accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2009.

Coming from 5 points off the lead on Saturday, Mulder won the annual championship by 5 with the Modified Stableford scoring they use in the tournament. Second place finisher, tennis player Mardy Fish, missed a 12-foot putt for eagle on the 18th hole which would have forced a playoff.

Mulder takes home a trophy and $125,000 for his efforts. Fish, $60,000.

Mardy Fish takes lead at American Century Championship, Wagner in second

Former professional tennis player, and 2004 Olympic silver medalist Mardy Fish took over the lead of the American Century Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe on Saturday. Friday's leader, actor Jack Wagner, is just two points off the lead.

"Birdie is what's the name of the game here and this scoring system," said Fish. He birdied all of the par-5 holes and three others, putting him in a good spot for the final round on Sunday.

Fish is in Tahoe with his wife, who is pregnant with a daughter, and 2 1/2 year old son. "It's been a fun week," Fish added.

Jack Wagner takes lead at American Century Golf in Lake Tahoe

During the first round of the 27th annual American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe, actor Jack Wagner is ahead by three points over NHL Hall of Famer Mike Modano. Last year's winner, and former baseball pitcher Mark Mulder is four points off the lead.

"This weekend is dedicated to Jim Powers," said Wagner. "He was my best friend for 46 years, personal assistant for 34 years, and he passed June 4. He's been up here all 26 years, just handling my stuff."

Golf and Justin Timberlake fans will have to get up early to follow the popular celebrity over at Edgewood Tahoe on Friday.

Timberlake, paired with good friend Alfonso Ribeiro, will tee off at 6:50 a.m. The singer/actor golfed in Tahoe on Wednesday, then flew to San Diego to participate in Comic Con 2016, and will be back for an early round of golf. Mark Mulder had a premonition on Thursday after playing his practice rounds at Edgewood Tahoe. "I'm going to win this," he said. "I was in kind of the groove and knew I had an absolute chance," he said of the American Century Golf Championship.

He is listed at 7-2 to win the event over defending champion Mark Rypien and perennial contenders John Smoltz and John Elway.

Rypien, the original favorite, is 5-1 with Smoltz at 6-1 and eight-time champion Rick Rhoden at 7-1 for the 54-hole, modified-Stableford competition at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

American Century releases list of celebrity golfers to participate in Lake Tahoe

Once again, the most popular celebrity golf tournament in the county will be held on the southern shores of Lake Tahoe. The 26th Annual American Century Championship will be held in South Lake Tahoe from July 14-19, 2015 at Edgewood Tahoe.

The list of the 95 participants released resemble the 'A List' of who's who in sports and entertainment, as well as the military. They will all be going after a prize purse of $625,000.

The beach on 17 was packed as usual with boaters and sunbathers waiting for their chance to play games of toss and catch with the dozens of celebrities that always join in the fun.

Dan Quinn Wins American Century Championship for 5th time at Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, LAKE TAHOE SOUTH — Dan Quinn birdied three of his first seven holes Sunday to pull ahead and then stretched his lead on the back nine to earn a six-point victory over former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
Quinn finished with 66 points. Rypien was second with 60 points and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway finished third with 59 points. It was the fourth win at the event for Quinn, a former NHL star who will caddie for Ernie Els at next week’s Canadian Open. Els won the British Open earlier in the day.
