DUI Checkpoint somewhere on the South Shore Saturday

Another reminder to not drink and drive in South Lake Tahoe will be on Saturday, July 15 when the the California Highway Patrol (CHP) conducts a sobriety checkpoint.

CHP has said they will be operating the checkpoint between 9:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. "somewhere in the east area of El Dorado County." This could be Meyers, South Lake Tahoe or Tahoma.

The sobriety checkpoint will be staffed by a team of CHP officers which will be controlling traffic, evaluating driver’s sobriety, and hand out literature warning of the dangers of drinking and driving. Driver license checks will be conducted and appropriate enforcement action will be taken.

If there is inclement weather, the checkpoint will be canceled for safety reasons and the units will be assigned to roving DUI patrol.

CHP has said that approximately two hours prior to the implementation of the checkpoint, a press release will be issued that specifies the exact location and time of the operation.
