Review: Miranda Lambert can add one more to her long list of fans

STATELINE, Nev. - She came out swinging and never stopped with hit after hit and rolled out her newest single in 15 months to a very appreciative and excited crowd.

I admit I never knew much about Miranda Lambert except to see her on award shows and for the fact she was once married to Blake Shelton. I enjoy country music but have never been a dedicated fan, but after Thursday night's show at the Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena, I am going to start paying much more attention, especially to Miranda.

She started the show off with her 2009 hit That's the Way the World Goes 'Round -

I know a gal got

A lot to lose
She's a pretty nice lady
But she’s kinda confused
Got muscles in her head
Ain't never been used
Thinks she owns half
Of this town

- and went right into three straight energized tunes (Kerosene, Highway Vagabond and We should Be Friends) before her brand new single, It All Comes Out in the Wash. This infectious and playful country song was a fun one that had the crowd completly energized (if not 100 percent there before).

‘Cause it’ll all come out, all come out in the wash / It’ll all come out, all come out in the wash / Every little stain, every little heartbreak, no matter how messy it got / You take the sin, and the men, and you throw ‘em all in / And you put that sucker on spin.

Those attending the sunset concert are obviously fans as they knew all the words to all of her songs. At first I felt unworthy to be in their midst but soon found that I didn't need to know the words to enjoy the melodies and fun.

She told the crowd how lucky they were to be in Lake Tahoe, and shared how she stopped by TJ Maxx and Safeway earlier in the day (did you spot her?). She was enjoying the lake, mountains and fresh air, with a bit of shopping.

A bonus I had during the show was sitting next to three people that I didn't previously know. One of them mentioned to me, "Hey, do you know who this is?" pointing their friend two seats away. I said I did not but soon found out. He was Shane Dwight who had performed earlier in the week with the Buddy Emmer Blues Band at Harrah's. Shane is a critically acclaimed blues maverick and performed Friday night at the Fox in Carson City so I snuck down there and listened...what a voice! I bought two CDs and drove home with his blues, honky-tonk country-rock sound filling my car. (He'll be back from Nashville in October for the Grand Sierra Casino Beer & Chili Festival).

Back to Miranda - For well over an hour she had everyone on their feet and enjoying the concert. Pink Sunglasses was an obvious hit - In my pink sunglasses/Always makes the world look a little bit better/In my pink sunglasses/You can try 'em anytime you need a change of the weather/At $9.99, I'm perfectly disguised/When I'm walking by, I wanna roll my eyes/In my pink sunglasses, pink sunglasses.

Miranda did not disappoint her serious fans, or the new ones like myself. Not sure exactly which point that happened. Could it have been Little Red Wagon or White Liar? Not sure, but it happened and now I'm shopping for her music.
