Lisa Maloff donates $2.5 million for new field and track at Whittell High School

Lisa Maloff is continuing her charitable ways in the South Shore community with yet another sizable donation. This time, it is in the amount of $2.5 million to be used on the sports field and track at Whittell High School in Zephyr Cove, Nev.

In a declaration approved by the Douglas County School District, the donation is to "enhance the education and athletic experience" of the students who attend Whittell.

The scope of the project will include improvements to the existing athletic field, installation of ADA-compliant all-weather track and football field, and other enhancements to be determined later.

$300,000 will come from the Lisa and Robert Maloff Endowment Fund at the School Board's approval of the project, $1,200,000 after the first day construction, $750,000 when the project is 50 percent completed and the balance upon completion of the project.

This follows several large contributions to the community.

Mrs. Maloff donated $10 million to Barton Health for the building of the Robert Maloff Center of Excellence, $5 million to Lake Tahoe Community College for the building of the Robert Maloff University Center. She also donated money to buy South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Ricci, and enough funds to cover his training, a new K9 vehicle, veterinary bills, food, maintenance and continued K9 handler training for a year. She also added a bullet-proof vest for Ricci.

The Douglas County School District will be making plans soon to get the project started according to Board President Ross Chichester.
