Douglas County Sheriff's Office takes to the airwaves with KOH 780AM

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with radio personality Jon Sanchez of KOH 780AM for the third time in a series of eight radio events to be broadcast for the community.

The next event is a live-remote broadcast on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sanchez Ranch Meat Company located in Minden, Nev. Sanchez will be hosting guest Undersheriff Paul Howell. The public is invited ask questions by calling (775) 852-TALK (8255) or by coming by Sanchez Meat and Deli.

Undersheriff Howell has selected the topic of law enforcement body worn cameras as his conversation starter. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has been preparing for two years to equip the 120 deputies with body worn cameras (BWC) and to be compliant with the newly passed Nevada law AB176. Undersheriff Howell is aware that many citizens in Douglas County have questions about the camera’s use, the technology, the cost and most importantly where is the funding coming from for the purchase and continued support of the cameras.

Body worn cameras have become law enforcement’s response to a public demand for more accountability and transparency. Sheriff Pierini stated prior that Douglas County enjoys an extremely supportive atmosphere in the community who are supportive of law enforcement. He has always held himself and the employees accountable to the public they serve.
