COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials are reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 since yesterday, five in the Lake Tahoe region, two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in El Dorado Hills, and one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz. One of the cases was under the age of 18, five aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and two aged 65 and older.

County officials say the statewide reporting system is experiencing processing delays and figures may be undestated.

There were an additional 71 tests administered since Monday's report and 62 results came back as negative. With 17 assumed recoveries there are 178 assumed active cases in El Dorado County.

One more person has been hospitalized but there is one fewer patient in the ICU (three in hospital, one in the ICU). There are no suspected cases in Barton or Marshall hospitals at this time.

The interactive dashboard for COVID-19 shows all current data in both Spanish and English. The dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates which serves as the best approximation of the date of infection:
- symptom onset date
- diagnosis date
- specimen collection date
- date received
- date of death

The rate of new cases in El Dorado County is the number of cases received in the state’s electronic lab reporting system (CalREDIE) over a 14-day period. The 14-day case rate being used to make the determination for whether or not a county is on the monitoring list is being calculated using episode date.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 7.3 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 115. The Lake Tahoe and El Dorado Hills regions are High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater). Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

The new dashboard also shows a graph of all cases, to date, or the estimated date a person become infected.

County-wide there have been 668 cases with 319 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).
