COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say there were six new cases of COVID-19 today, one in the Lake Tahoe region, one in El Dorado Hills, Three in 3 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and one in North County. Of these, one is aged under 18, two are aged 18-49, two aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

An additional 112 people have been tested, 106 negative test results were received and there have been 11 assumed recoveries. That leaves an assumed 143 active cases in El Dorado County.

One more person has been hospitalized in the ICU. There are currently no suspected cases in the hospital.

There have been two deaths.

The new dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.9 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 96. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 877 cases with 412 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma). The 14-day rate are the assumed active cases.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting twelve new cases and thirty-nine recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 906, with 791 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 100 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Douglas County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• An adult female Douglas County resident in her teens with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents
There is one drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 71 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Placer County

There have been 20 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Tuesday.
Lake Tahoe area cases - 20 (+2) are in Tahoe City, 71 (+2) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 16 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.4 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 88.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 7 percent, 14-day increase is 31 percent.
