COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 22 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county, five in the Lake Tahoe region, seven in El Dorado Hills, four in Placerville, three in North County, one each in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and Diamond Springs, El Dorado;. Of the new cases, two are under the age of 18, 16 aged 18-49, three aged 50-64, and one is 65 or older.

Tests were given to another 118 people with 96 negative tests results returned. There are an assumed 46 recoveries leaving 186 assumed active cases in El Dorado County.

There has been one additional hospitalization with another person admitted to the ICU, leaving two currently hospitalized with confirmed cases. There are no suspected cases at this time.

The interactive dashboard for COVID-19 shows all current data in both Spanish and English. The dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates which serves as the best approximation of the date of infection:
- symptom onset date
- diagnosis date
- specimen collection date
- date received
- date of death

The rate of new cases in El Dorado County is the number of cases received in the state’s electronic lab reporting system (CalREDIE) over a 14-day period. The 14-day case rate being used to make the determination for whether or not a county is on the monitoring list is being calculated using episode date.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 7.0 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 116. The Lake Tahoe and El Dorado Hills regions are High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater). Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

The new dashboard also shows a graph of all cases, to date, or the estimated date a person become infected.

County-wide there have been 659 cases with 314 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting 37 new cases and 33 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 718, with 567 recoveries and twelve deaths, 139 cases remain active.

The Monday cases are:
• A female Carson City resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 70’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents
There are two drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 42 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

67 (+1) of the confirmed cases to date are in Incline Village with 10 (+0) active ones, and no active and two recovered cases in Crystal Bay.

Placer County

There have been 62 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 11 (+1) are in Tahoe City, 49 (+1) in Kings Beach, six (+0) in Olympic Village, 15 (+0) in Truckee.

Their seven-day test rate is 13.8 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 94.4 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 11 percent, 14-day increase is 35 percent.
