A large marijuana grow area was discovered near Jacks Valley in the Toiyabe National Forest along the eastern foothills, Douglas County authorities said Wednesday.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is looking for three suspects associated with the grow and have warned that the men are hiding in the forest and may emerge at any number of locations in Douglas County, including Glenbrook on the Lake Tahoe side.
Here is a news release provided by Sgt. Jim Halsey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
U.S. Forest Service Rangers and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are currently conducting a joint eradication operation of an illegal marijuana grow discovered in the Toiyabe National Forest, along the eastern foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, in the northeast sector of Douglas County, near Jacks Valley.
The operation is being supported by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office “Raven” helicopter crew and K9 units.
A substantial grow of mature marijuana plants were discovered in the area. At this time no arrests have been made, however it is believed the suspects involved in cultivating the plants are currently hiding in the nearby forested area. The suspects are described as three adult male Hispanics.
The suspects may emerge at any of the surrounding residential areas of Alpine View Estates, Jacks Valley, Genoa, Clear Creek Road or Glenbrook; or anywhere along U.S. Hwy 50 between Carson City and Spooner Summit.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who sees any suspicious persons or vehicles in these areas to call DCSO dispatch at 775-782-5126 to report it.
