COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials announced another 22 positive cases of COVID-19 in the county since Friday. Eight of those are in El Dorado Hills, seven in the Lake Tahoe region, two in each Pollock Pine/Camin/Kyburz, North County and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in South County. Of those, four are under the age of 18, nine aged between 18-49, five aged 50-64 and four aged 65 or older.

Another 549 people were tested over the weekend. 527 negative results were returned and there are 46 assumed new recoveries. There are 142 assumed active cases.

There has been no change in the number of hospitalizations and ICU, with two currently in the ICU. There are currently no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

The new dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.0 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 106. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 849 cases with 395 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting 17 new cases and 44 recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region since Friday. This brings the total number of cases to 886, with 732 recoveries, and fifteen deaths, 139 cases remain active.

The new cases for Monday are:
• A male Lyon County resident in his 80’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

There is one drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 136 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

71 (+2) of the confirmed cases to date are in Incline Village with 8 (+2) active ones, and 1 active and two recovered cases in Crystal Bay.

Placer County

There have been 82 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.
Lake Tahoe area cases - 16 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 68 (+6) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 16 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 11 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 103.1 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 9 percent, 14-day increase is 35 percent.
