Gardnerville shooting leaves man with life threatening injuries

More details are now known about Tuesday night's shooting in Gardnerville. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has learned that earlier in the evening, at 8:20 p.m., there was a fight at the Ann Way residence between four individuals. During that altercation, the person of interest in the shooting, 56-year-old John Stalcup, was a victim of a battery.

When Deputies arrived on scene, the suspect in the battery had fled the scene.

"At 9:36 p.m. deputies received the shots fired call at 706 Ann Way," according to Sgt. Pat Brooks of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "The suspect of the battery had returned to the address and another confrontation occurred. During this subsequent altercation a firearm was discharged and the initial aggressor received a single gunshot wound which remains life threatening."

He is now at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Stalcup, the initial victim, was treated and released at Carson Valley Medical Center.

At this time no arrests have been made, the firearm has been recovered and this case is still under investigation

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of shots fired at a Gardnerville residence at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

When they arrived at the home in the 700 block of Ann Way they located a male who had been shot. At this time the incident appears to be related to a domestic disturbance.

The man who was shot has life threatening injuries

A person of interest is currently being questioned, and this case is currently being investigated.

No other information will be released at this time.
