"A Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" topic of next TERC talk

Event Date:
August 30, 2018 - 5:30pm

Join UC Davis TERC in Incline Village for a special summer feature lecture on Thursday, August 30, with Jared Blumenfeld, former EPA Regional Administrator.

For Jared, walking from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail opened up new ways of thinking about our relationship with nature. Jared's talk will combine his amazing hiking photographs, stories of adventure and insights about the current state of environmental politics.

Jared currently hosts Podship Earth an award-winning weekly environmental podcast. Mr. Blumenfeld served as the Regional Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency for Nevada, California, Arizona and Hawaii (2009-2016), he also was the Director of the San Francisco Department of the Environment (2001-2009), chaired the first United Nations World Environment Day held in the US (2005), and founded the Business Council on Climate Change and Green Cities California. He has worked for non-profits including the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) where he helped protect millions of acres for wildlife and held corporations accountable. He is a trusted source for environmental stories and appears frequently in the New York Times, BBC, Economist, Los Angeles Times, and NPR.

Registration for this event is required. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with refreshments and no-host bar from 5:30 - 6 p.m. at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village (between Tahoe Boulevard/SR 28 and Lakeshore Blvd.) on the campus of Sierra Nevada College. A $10 suggested donation will be collected at the door.
