Dr. Clint Purvance named new Barton Health President and CEO

Dr. Clint Purvance will be taking over the helm at Barton Health on November 1, replacing the retiring John Williams who will retire in early 2016 after nine years with Barton Health.

Dr. Purvance has served as Chief Medical Officer for Barton Health for the past eight years. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has practiced medicine at Barton Memorial Hospital since 1999.

“It is an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity,” said Dr. Purvance. “I look forward to working closely with an outstanding team of staff and physicians to bring our organization to the next level in providing compassionate care, serving our community’s needs, and making a positive difference in the lives of the community we serve.”

Dr. Purvance is a long-standing member of the Lake Tahoe community. He and his wife, Shawna, have five children, and they all enjoy paddle boarding, skiing, and hiking in their free time.

“Mr. Williams has done a remarkable job leading Barton Health,” says Kirk Ledbetter, chairman of Barton Health’s Board of Directors. “He has led the organization into a position of solid financial health and has built a strong team of leaders to face future challenges.”

“It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Purvance," said Williams. "His medical leadership has been instrumental in improving our quality and patient safety ratings, which led to our recent Joint Commission recognition as a Top Performer. Dr. Purvance’s integrity, adaptability, and core belief that patients are a top priority make him more than qualified to lead the organization in a new and exciting direction.”

In a statement released to physicians and staff, Kirk Ledbetter expressed his and the Board of Directors excitement about the decision.

“The Board of Directors is confident that Barton Health’s patients, employees, physicians, and community are in good hands,” said Ledbetter. “Dr. Purvance has the skills, knowledge, and leadership to guide us through Barton Health’s next chapter of health and wellness in our community.”
