It is time for Tahoe to have a new representative in Congress. Tom McClintock has represented our region in congress since 2009. During that time he has not promoted our interests.

1. He never moved into our district. He continues to live in a gated community in Elk Grove. Is our district not nice enough for him to live in? After all, we are paying his salary.

2. He has not had a town hall in the Lake Tahoe District during the past 4 years.

3. His votes are not supportive of our local needs. His votes that do not represent our community are represented by the following votes:

Patient Safety Awareness Week is an annual recognition event intended to encourage everyone to learn more about healthcare safety. It’s an opportunity for hospitals and health systems to share their work and resources on patient safety, safety culture and patient engagement.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Behind the scenes at Barton Health is a thriving culture of teaching and learning through specialized fellowship and medical residency programs. Just as Lake Tahoe attracts visitors from around the world, these programs attract doctors from around the world to gain experience in their medical specialty. By facilitating a constant exchange of experience and new practices, fellowship and residency programs elevate the clinical environment for Barton physicians and enhance quality care for patients.

Barton Foundation released its first wave of funding for new equipment, services, and programs that will impact the Lake Tahoe community through Barton Health in 2018. The Foundation dispersed $85,000 to increase patient safety and privacy, offer comfort for children and their family members, and provide education and training for local first responders.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – This week the Leap Frog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system, released the new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. Hospitals nationwide are assigned an A, B, C, D or F letter grade. Barton Memorial Hospital was one of 823 hospitals to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents. This is the third consecutive “A” Barton Hospital has received.

Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe was one of 798 hospitals in the United States to earn an "A", making it one of the safest hospitals in the country.

A national patient safety watchdog, the Leapfrog Group, announced the New Hospital Safety Scores which come in the form of grades A, B, C, D and F.

September 11 evokes a different meaning to South Lake Tahoe resident Christine O’Farrell. In 2002, on the one-year anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Christine was on the operating table at Barton Memorial Hospital facing a new threat: cancer.

Christine had been diagnosed with an aggressive case of breast cancer. At the time, she was 42 years old and working at Barton’s Home Health and Hospice for quality assurance and infection prevention. Her three children were 14, 12, and 9.

Barton Memorial Hospital announced today it has been identified as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission. According to The Joint Commission report released on November 13, Barton Hospital is one of 1,224 hospitals that achieved the 2013 Top Performer distinction.

The Medical Imaging Department at Barton Health has been awarded a three year term of accreditation by the American College of Radiology as well as the Gold Seal.

“Our radiology staff and facilities have endured a rigorous review process to confirm our medical excellence,” says Tom Davis, Barton’s director of Medical Imaging. “We are very fortunate to have a team of radiologists and staff who are both state and nationally certified and among the most elite in their field.”

Today [March 5], Dr. Purvance, Barton Health’s Chief Medical Officer, as well as Barton employees and community members gathered to recognize Patient Safety Awareness Week at Barton Memorial Hospital. Dr. Purvance highlighted Barton’s “excellence in performance and commitment to patient safety.”
