Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

This week at South Tahoe High School, students enjoyed a short week with Labor Day Weekend and Back-to-School night. Seniors get prepared for their last year at STHS and multiple home games wrap up the week.

On Campus

On Thursday, seniors met in the STHS theatre with school counselors to discuss graduation requirements. With Google slides filled of tips and resources, counselors took questions from seniors, helping them prepare for their final year.

Athletics

The week is packed with sports. The football team plays tonight at 7 p.m. at the Viking Football Field against Sparks High School. Jake Tarwater, quarterback, is expecting the team’s hard work during the summer to pay off on the field.

“I hope for a win and for the offense to light up the scoreboard,” said Tarwater.

The volleyball team has its first home game tonight at 6 p.m. against Spring Creek High School in the Blue Gym. Elko High School awaits on Saturday at 12 p.m. Tyler Pevenage, setter and team captain, looks forward to playing with her teammates for her last-first home game at STHS.

“I would love more than anything to come out with a ‘dub’ and work together,” said Pevenage.

Tahoe Hockey Academy, whose players attend STHS, has its first preseason home games on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Cade Schiefelbein, team captain, is hoping “to get the boys going and put on a show for the fans.”
