A school bus and pickup collided Friday afternoon on Highway 50 East near Airport Road in Carson City, sending the driver of the pickup to the hospital. The driver of the bus and two children aboard were not injured, said Carson City Fire Chief Bob Schreihans.
"There were no injuries to anyone on the bus and the parents of the kids were there to pick them up," said Schreihans.
The driver of the pickup was taken by ground ambulance to the hospital. His condition is not immediately known at this time. The crash was reported at 3:48 p.m and is under investigation. Carson City Fire Department, the Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded.
Also, Carson City and Rescue was called to a motorcycle crash with injuries Friday afternoon in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 West near the top of Spooner Summit. That crash was reported at 3:09 p.m. and involved an adult male motorcycle rider and passenger, said Schreihans. The driver apparently lost control of the bike and slid into a canyon wall.
The female passenger suffered a broken leg. She was flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The driver of the motorcycle suffered road rash injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to Renown, said Schreihans.
