Monthly gaming report: Casino revenues down In second full month of being reopened

STATELINE, Nev. - Nevada’s non-restricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $743,038,562 for the month of August 2020, the third month of casinos reopening in the state after being closed due to the coronavirus. This amounts to a 22.08 percent decrease compared to August 2019, when licensees reported a gaming win of $953,623,896, according to the monthly report released today by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe had a "win" of $21,889,378, down 7.57 percent from August 2019. Harrah's, MontBleu and Hard Rock reopened on June 4, Harveys reopened June 30.

The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

The State has collected $236,822,339 in percentage fees to date for the fiscal year which begins July 1.

Some casinos showed an increase in revenue from 2019, those located in Washoe County areas not in Reno, Sparks or North Lake Tahoe, those are up 6.55 percent, and the Boulder Strip showed a 29.62 percent gain, or $70,914,958 in revenue.

The North Shore casinos posted a win of $2,306,637, down 14.01 percent from the previous year.

The rest of Douglas County had a "win" of $9,934,397 , a 0.61 percent gain over last year.

Douglas County, including the South Shore, casinos reported a win of $6,568,000 on table games, $15,322 ,000 on slot machines in August.
