Sunday morning collision in South Lake Tahoe sends one to the hospital

One man was transported to Barton Hospital Sunday morning after the motorcycle he was on collided with a Chevy Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe.

Personnel from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) and South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded to a call that came in at 10:19 a.m. on October 2 on Highway 50 between the Raley's shopping center and Mc Donalds.

Preliminary reports show the driver of the SUV, a 62-year-old man from American Canyon, pulled out of the Raley's parking lot and headed northbound on Highway 50. As he merged into the other lanes of traffic, he pulled in front of a motorcyclist who was also northbound, a 20-year-old man from Shingle Springs, Calif.

At this time it appears the driver of the SUV failed to yield to a vehicle entering the roadway and an unsafe lane change according to Sgt. Jason Chaney of SLTPD.

It appears the trip to Barton was precautionary and injuries were not serious.

When South Tahoe Now was at the scene, the victim was lying in the exit lane of McDonalds, and his bike was in the enter lane. Traffic was being rerouted around the slow lane of the road as emergency personnel could tend to the victim and clean up the scene.
