COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 20 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, two are in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, eight from El Dorado Hills, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and nine in the Lake Tahoe Region.

The new cases: 6 are under the age of 18, 10 aged 18-49, 2 aged 50-64. and 2 are 65 or over.

Another 628 people were tested for the coronavirus and 608 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 28 assumed recoveries with 154 assumed active cases.

There are currently two COVID-19 IOU patients at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and no suspected cases.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County has moved to the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.9 percent positivity (from specimens collected between Sept. 29-Oct. 5), and the 14-day rate of new cases is 59 (-11).

El Dorado Hills have moved back into the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), Lake Tahoe, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue and Placerville are also in the Moderate range, with Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, South County, North County and El Dorado/Diamond Springs in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,259 cases with 503 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting thirteen new cases and ten additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,493, with 1,316 recoveries and 17 deaths, 160 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Carson City resident in her 20s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 60s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 30s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 30s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 50s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 30s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 30s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 40s with no connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination & COVID-19 Testing for Quad-County Residents
There are more drive-thru flu vaccination and COVID-19 testing events for Quad-County residents this week. For convenience, CCHHS is contracted to bill most insurances. For uninsured we ask for a $20 administration fee however no one will be turned away for the inability to pay. CCHHS is not contracted with Tricare or labor unions. The Regional Information Center is reporting 371 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

Their seven-day test rate is 1.8 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 3.2 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 3.4 percent, 14-day increase is 6.3 percent.
