COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another seven residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, two are in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one was removed from the El Dorado Hills count one in Greater Placerville, and five in the Lake Tahoe Region.

The new cases: 1 is under the age of 18, 5 aged 18-49, and 1 aged 50-64.

Another 214 people were tested for the coronavirus and 207 negative tests results were received.

There have been another seven assumed recoveries with 154 assumed active cases.

There is currently one COVID-19 IOU patient at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and no suspected cases.

There have been four deaths in the county since the pandemic started.

El Dorado County has moved to the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.0 percent positivity (specimen collection from Sept. 26- Oct.2), and the 14-day rate of new cases is 70 (-1).

El Dorado Hills have moved back into the Medium Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater), South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue are in the Moderate range and have been joined by North County, and Placerville, with South County and El Dorado/Diamond Springs in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,239 cases with 494 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting thirty-seven new cases and four additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,453, with 1,277 recoveries and 17 deaths, 159 cases remain active.

The new cases are:

For uninsured we ask for a $20 administration fee however no one will be turned away for the inability to pay. CCHHS is not contracted with Tricare or labor unions. The Regional Information Center is reporting 144 new COVID-19 cases and one new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.
