South Lake Tahoe forecast: Mostly sunny with slight chance of rain and snow

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Haze and smoke from the Caples Fire will continue into
Monday, with a more localized area of smoke for South Lake Tahoe, Markleeville and Minden areas immediately downwind of the fire.

Dry conditions with warmer than average temperatures are expected through midweek according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Light winds Monday and Tuesday will be followed by some increase in winds and a cooling trend from Wednesday into

next weekend as a broad area of low pressure drops south toward the Great Basin from the Pacific Northwest. There is a chance for light precipitation north of Highway 50 each day from Thursday through the weekend.

Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day - Sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 27. Calm wind.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 32. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 34.

Thursday - A slight chance of rain before 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
